What is Cells At Work?
Cells at Work! (はたらく細胞 Hataraku Saibō), is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Akane Shimizu. Cells At Work has 6 volumes and is a series that has already ended in Japan.It presents the cells of a human body, with the two main protagonists (a red blood cell and a white blood cell) being frequently encountered.The story takes place inside the human body, where trillions of cells perform their biological functions to keep the body healthy. The series mainly focuses on two of those cells; a rookie red blood cell (AE3803), who often gets lost in deliveries, and a white blood cell (U-1146), who fights germs that invade the body. An anime television series adaptation by David Production debuted from July 8 to September 29, 2018. A second season premiered in January 2021.

The Live Action Movie
In 2017, Cells At Work was selected as one of the recommended books for summer by the French newspaper “Le Monde”, attracting attention not only in Japan, but around the world. The popularity increased even further with the anime adaptation in 2018.
Since then, numerous spin-offs have continued to be announced, making it a mega-hit with over 10 million copies sold in total.
A live-action film adaptation has been announced today.
The film “Cells At Work” takes place inside the human body and depicts “the smallest story in the world.” It will be released in Japan in December 2024.

In addition, character images and a special trailer that conveys the atmosphere of the film have been revealed.
The character images show Red Blood Cell, whose signature mark is his red hair and hat, and White Blood Cell, with his face and hair completely white.
In the background of the Red Blood Cell image, a cardboard box filled with oxygen can be seen, while in the background of the White Blood Cell image, there is a knife meant to eliminate viruses, creating a shocking impression.
