Who is Gamera?
Those not versed in the Godzilla (ゴジラ) universe will not know Gamera (ガメラ). Gamera is a giant flying turtle created as a counterpart to Godzilla.Gamera’s first appearance was in “Daikaiju Gamera” (The World Under Terror) in 1965. The film was created in black and white on purpose (despite the fact that color was already available at that time). This was to emphasize the reason for its creation: to rival the success of Godzilla.Gamera’s appearance has varied over the years, although he still has a turtle-like appearance and has always retained his lower fangs.

The Anime Gamera -Rebirth-
On March 25 at “AnimeJapan 2023” (held at Tokyo Big Sight), the trailer for the anime “GAMERA -Rebirth-” was presented for the first time worldwide, the new installment of the franchise of the great monster loved by kaiju fans around the world.
This work is a six-episode anime series that will be distributed worldwide by Netflix in 2023.
As Netflix has announced, Jiger will be one of the giant monsters that Gamera will fight against.
The other five kaiju that we will see in “GAMERA: Rebirth” will be: Gyaos, Boko, Joe, Junichi and Brody.
The trailer reveals for the first time the complete appearance of Gamera and other kaijus, as well as the voices of the characters. You can also see the moving images of the four children and the imposing kaijus in the series.
Of the five monsters that fight against Gamera, the second visual of Jiger was published, after Gyaos, as well as the fight of the kaijus. It was also announced that rock band WANIMA will be performing the series’ theme song and ending song.
